Electrical Engineering Department

The Department of Electrical Engineering was established in 1961, as one of the foundational branches of the Institution. With a focus on imparting high quality technical education, with a special impetus on dynamic growth and moral education, the Department is renowned for preparing engineers who use their inquisitiveness and innovation for developing solutions to real world problems.

In its 50 years of service to the nation, the Electrical Engineering Department was the first branch in India to introduce an undergraduate course in Computer Science and Engineering in 1976. Over the last 50 years, the department has completed several industrial and research projects. The faculty has a rich catalog of publications to its credit and students have produced commendable projects under their guidance.

The Electrical Engineering Department prepares students in Under-graduate and Post-graduate courses in Electrical Engineering leading to the B.Tech. and M.Tech. degrees respectively. Currently, the department offers M.Tech. in two specialized fields of interest: Control Systems & Instrumentation and Power Electronics & ASIC Design. Besides, the department also recruits candidates for the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree as part of the Quality Improvement Program.

Admission to the B.Tech. degree is through the All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) conducted by the CBSE. Admission to the M.Tech. degree is through Graduate Aptitude and Technical Examination (GATE). Ph. D. candidates are enrolled upon successful completion of NET.
